FTMO Smart Trader MT4 Review: Overnight Trading, Costs and Feedback

  • Developer source link: FTMO Smart Trader EA MT4
  • Live signal link: no directly linked public live signal found in the current description.

A narrowly specified EURUSD session scalper for MT4 users who can evaluate overnight execution. The main gaps are an inspectable current live record and confirmation of compatibility with the buyer’s account rules.

This review is based on public developer material checked on 23 September 2026. We have not independently traded or backtested the executable.

Session timing is part of the strategy

The published setup combines M1 entries with a four-hour GMT+3 window. Moving that window changes the liquidity, spreads and price behaviour the EA encounters. A test performed during London trading would not validate an overnight configuration.

Keep a verification log containing broker server time, UTC, spread at entry, commission and requested versus filled price. This distinguishes a signal issue from a clock or execution issue. Short holding periods can make small differences in cost significant.

A drawdown objective is not a ceiling

The developer describes fixed stops and dynamic targets and markets an approximate 2% drawdown objective. We have not verified that objective in a public account. Losses can accumulate, and stops can fill worse than requested.

Check that order size and stop distance produce the intended cash risk, including commission. Do not infer risk from the lot number alone or carry a preset between brokers without checking the symbol specification. The same nominal lot can create a different practical result when spreads and execution differ.

Customer feedback is mixed and dated

The panel contained four ratings. Darryl Brown’s April 2023 comment is explicitly a first-day impression, so it says little about sustained performance. A February 2024 reviewer alleged that the product did not work with their prop account and described a disagreement over an alternative purchase. The developer disputed that account and said the intention was to make settings work. We cannot adjudicate that private exchange.

This is a reason to verify the exact account and configuration, not proof that every current installation fails. The comments also predate later changes. Customer opinions should remain separate from a verified trading record.

Release history and evidence limits

The public change log describes strategy and filter revisions, including equity-stop and time-filter work. Old reviews therefore cannot be treated as a direct test of today’s executable. We checked the listing and release notes but did not run the software ourselves.

No directly linked public live signal or downloadable public manual was present in the current description. The author directs buyers to contact them for monitoring and settings. We consequently do not publish a live return figure or describe the drawdown objective as demonstrated.

A useful validation sequence

  1. Confirm symbol naming, M1 operation and the published window on demo.
  2. Inspect stops and cash risk at the broker’s minimum volume.
  3. Compare realistic-cost tests with forward results from quiet and volatile sessions.
  4. Check funded-account rules separately; a product name is not provider approval.
