GoldSpire MT5 Review: Gold Grid Strategy, Backtest and Feedback

GoldSpire MT5 trades XAUUSD through adaptive entry filters, dynamic grid layers and basket management. It combines fixed or automatic lot sizing with news, spread and drawdown controls, plus an on-chart dashboard and emergency trade closure.

Our assessment: GoldSpire offers a focused set of gold basket controls, with useful documented improvements to exits and broker compatibility. It suits traders prepared to test and monitor grid exposure. Its public evidence is limited to a developer backtest infographic and early customer experiences; there is no linked live account to establish long-term performance.

How the gold strategy works

The developer describes adaptive behaviour across different market regimes, using market structure, adverse price movement, spread, volatility and risk conditions before opening further grid layers. That can make expansion more selective than a fixed-distance grid, but it does not remove the risk of multiple positions accumulating during a sustained gold move. The public description does not disclose a fully reproducible entry formula.

The important distinction is between controlling a basket and eliminating recovery exposure. Customer comments praise infrequent additional steps, but a quiet early period cannot establish how the system behaves during a prolonged trend, gap or liquidity shock. Judge the combined open positions and floating equity, not just the count of successful closed cycles.

What the backtest image shows

The original infographic covers 1 January 2024 to 1 June 2026 using a stated $10,000 initial deposit and fixed 0.01 lot size. It reports $2,596.44 net profit, equivalent to approximately 25.96% of the initial deposit across the full test, with 3,191 trades. This is simulated historical performance; the artwork’s verification badge does not make it an independently verified live record.

  • Profit factor: 2.32; reported win rate: 92.42%.
  • Maximum balance drawdown: $75.55, or 0.75%.
  • Maximum equity drawdown: $324.93, or 3.25%.
  • Recovery factor: 7.99; reported Sharpe ratio: 5.89.

The equity drawdown is more than four times the balance drawdown percentage shown, illustrating why floating basket losses deserve attention. The attractive win rate also says little about the size of an occasional losing basket. This is a designed summary image rather than a complete Strategy Tester report, and it does not disclose enough execution-cost, data-quality or input detail to reproduce the result independently. Its fixed-lot, $10,000 setup should not be treated as evidence for aggressive AutoLot on a $500 account.

Documented changes to exits and sizing

The 28 June 2026 release notes describe a move from virtual profit exits to real broker-side take-profit levels, using actual entry prices and synchronised basket calculations. They also introduce Basket Runner Trailing and additional checks around fresh gold highs and lows. A broker-held take-profit is different from a guaranteed stop-loss; it is a profit exit and does not by itself cap adverse basket loss.

The 13 July notes describe fixed lots and balance-based AutoLot, superseding the earlier description of volatility-based automatic sizing. They also document restart recovery, centralised order checks, and risk calculations that include commission, swaps and broker fees. The 15 July update focuses on differing symbol digits, gold prefixes or suffixes and cent-account compatibility. These are developer-reported changes, not an independent execution test.

News filtering and broker compatibility

The July release notes describe Forex Factory news with an MQL5 calendar fallback for live/demo use, while news requests are disabled in Strategy Tester. That creates an important testing distinction: a historical run should not be assumed to reproduce live news-filter decisions. Broker spread, slippage, trading hours and symbol specifications can also change how entries and basket exits behave.

The source recommends a hedging account, a continuously running VPS and stable low-spread conditions. It states a flexible timeframe rather than one mandatory chart period. The $500 minimum, $2,000 recommended balance and preference for 1:500 leverage are developer setup suggestions; higher leverage increases available margin, not the safety of a chosen basket. Daily and maximum drawdown controls need to be configured for the whole intended account exposure.

What the MQL5 customer reviews say

Six ratings were visible on 17 September 2026, with three substantive written reviews and three ratings without comments. The written feedback is positive but comes from short early use in June, rather than a multi-year record. These are MQL5 customer opinions, kept separate from CheaperForex purchase ratings.

  • PierG, 23 June: described roughly three weeks including a trial, appreciating the entry choices and infrequent recovery operations. The request for trailing predated the 28 June Basket Runner Trailing update.
  • Dani12555, 19 June: reported selective behaviour during the first testing week, while explicitly saying it was too early to judge the long term.
  • Lukas Haufe, 18 June: praised execution and dynamic rather than fixed grid spacing, based on the experience available at that point.

The comments section adds a useful qualification: PierG said a losing Friday trade had been closed manually. Customer account screenshots therefore cannot automatically be attributed to untouched EA operation. No linked public live signal or separate public manual was found in the main listing or seller page. Read the full MQL5 reviews · Read the customer discussion.

Who GoldSpire may suit

The clearest fit is a gold trader who wants configurable basket management and will assess exposure under their own broker conditions. Someone specifically seeking single-entry trading without grid recovery, or an established public live track record, should recognise that those are not demonstrated here. Prop-firm mode should be evaluated against the specific firm’s current limits rather than treated as a certification.
