Squid X EA MT5 trades XAUUSD on H1 using price structure, trendlines, Fibonacci retracements and EMA context. Its distinctive feature is a recovery system combined with cash-based stop-loss settings, equity-based position sizing and an optional daily entry limit. It is designed for traders who want to define the account exposure as carefully as the gold entry setup.
Control gold exposure in cash terms
The MT5 release notes describe a change from a pip-based stop to STOP_LOSS_USD. In fixed-lot mode the configured cash stop is used; in risk-percent mode the intended loss is calculated from equity. This makes reviewing the planned risk more direct, but it still requires testing the broker’s contract size, minimum lot and actual order behaviour.
- Daily entry cap: an optional maximum number of orders per day pauses new entries after the limit is reached.
- Trading-hour selection: restrict the operating window rather than leave the system active through every market session.
- Execution filters: maximum-spread and slippage settings screen entry conditions.
- Recovery controls: the developer documents Trade Recovery and Recovery Speed Mode. Inspect these inputs and the combined exposure before enabling live trading.
- On-chart panel: displays operating information to help check the EA’s current state.

MT5 requirements and first-run checks
- Market
- XAUUSD / Gold.
- Chart
- H1 in MetaTrader 5.
- Developer’s capital guide
- $100 for 0.01 lot. This is not a safe-loss limit or assurance that every broker permits the same exposure.
- Lot mode
- Fixed lot or percentage of equity; confirm the cash stop and resulting volume together.
- Execution
- Low spread and latency are recommended. Check trading-hour settings against broker time.
- Availability
- A continuously connected terminal or suitable VPS is recommended.
A daily order limit restricts frequency; it is not the same as a daily loss limit. Recovery can add exposure while the market moves against a position, so the proposed exit target should not be read as a guaranteed recovery. Demo-test the selected settings and verify how positions are handled if the terminal disconnects.
