GoldCycle EA MT5 Review: Daily Gold Strategy, Signals and Recovery Risk

GoldCycle EA MT5 trades gold using daily price levels and volatility-adjusted stop-loss and take-profit distances. It aims for one trade per day, with session-based order cancellation and position closure rather than a basket of averaging trades. Its appeal is a focused daily schedule and explicit exits. The main decision is whether to use fixed risk or optional recovery, because that choice can materially change drawdown.

Strategy: daily levels rather than averaging

Gregory Hay describes entries around daily highs and lows, with volatility determining exit distances. Percentage-risk sizing links the number of lots to the stop distance. A one-trade-per-day design limits trading frequency, but does not make each trade low risk. Trailing and breakeven controls are optional, and the developer says they are not enabled by default.

Recovery needs to be understood

The listing says it avoids grids and martingale, but it also documents a Recovery Factor that increases percentage risk after a loss. That optional mode changes loss-sequence exposure. Use fixed risk with recovery disabled if you do not want risk to increase following a losing trade; a risk cap does not prevent slippage beyond the planned stop.

Setup and public documentation

The documented starting chart is GOLD/XAUUSD H1, with broker time based on GMT+2 and daylight-saving adjustment. The comments provide an Exness seven-digit-quote preset. Confirm server time, symbol precision and the supplied configuration before trading. The advertised $100 minimum is a developer starting guideline; minimum lot size, stop distance and margin can prevent a small account from matching the chosen risk percentage.

A manual is offered privately by the developer rather than linked publicly. The public comments include historical tester reports and a broker-specific preset. We inspected the public listing and comments; we have not independently run the executable or verified every default input.

GoldCycle I: MT5 EqualMarkets account

On 16 September 2026, the MQL5 account showed 306.84% growth, €42,848.31 profit and €43,032.78 equity. It began with €20,000 and reported a €20,000 withdrawal. Those cash flows explain why growth, profit and remaining equity should not be treated as interchangeable measures.

The page displayed 16 weeks of account history, but a monitoring Started date of 27 August 2026. There were 74 trades, 62.16% winners and profit factor 2.57. Maximal balance drawdown was 13.07%, relative equity drawdown 5.55%, and maximum deposit load 9.54%. Algorithmic activity was 94%, so this is not proof that every recorded trade came solely from the retail EA. Average holding time was 15 hours.

GoldCycle II: useful comparison, different platform

The second MQL5 account is MT4 on BlazeMarkets-Real Server. It showed 79.71% growth and $7,970.61 profit from $10,000, with no additional deposits or withdrawals. The eight-week displayed history contained 36 trades, 61.11% winners and profit factor 2.90. Equity drawdown was 9.63%, maximal balance drawdown 8.15%, and maximum deposit load 4.96%. Its monitoring Started date was 26 August 2026, and a new-account warning remained visible. This supports comparison of the strategy family, not an identical MT5 execution claim.

RoboForex and prop-settings monitoring

The linked RoboForex Myfxbook account was labelled real, MT5 and 1:1000 leverage. At the check it showed 144.69% gain, 25.60% drawdown, 71 trades and profit factor 2.06. Its last displayed update was 14 September. That drawdown is materially higher than the low-drawdown promotional examples, and the accounts are not a controlled settings comparison.

The separate PU Prime prop-settings account was explicitly labelled DEMO. It showed 26.43% gain, 2.25% drawdown and 73 trades. A demo tagged with prop settings is not proof of passing an evaluation, receiving a payout or satisfying a particular firm’s current rules. Check the firm’s EA, news, loss-limit and overnight rules independently before use.

Original backtests

The developer supplies standard and prop-setting Strategy Tester reports. They are useful illustrations of historical configuration, not forward returns. Their “real tick” inputs remain simulation. Reproduce tests with the intended broker’s symbol precision, commission, spread, risk mode and session settings; the public account results already demonstrate that observed drawdowns vary.

Customer feedback: four reviews, a small sample

The listing displayed four positive customer ratings at the check. Comments praised simple daily operation, setup help, risk-profile guidance and optional trailing controls. One customer reported agreement between their live and backtest results, but supplied no controlled validation in the review itself. These are customer opinions and a small sample, not a performance audit.

Assessment and alternatives

GoldCycle has a clearer trading schedule than many basket systems, with configurable exits and a choice of fixed or recovery risk. Its linked accounts are positive at this dated check, but monitoring began later than the displayed account histories and the RoboForex drawdown reached 25.60%. Evaluate risk settings and longer forward performance rather than annualising a few months of growth.
