Tenet Scalp MT5 Review: Grid Recovery, Presets and Backtest Risk

Tenet Scalp MT5 focuses on XAUUSD M1 trading with grid-based position management, configurable stop loss and take profit, break-even and trailing exits. Fixed or balance-based automatic lot sizing sits alongside spread, slippage, time and news controls.

Our assessment: Tenet Scalp provides a broad set of entry, sizing and recovery controls for gold. Preset selection is central to its behaviour. Historical results vary sharply by configuration, and the older spectacular-profit images carry substantial relative equity drawdowns that should be considered alongside the newer smoother test.

Platform identity and strategy

The source listing is in MQL5’s MetaTrader 5 Experts category and its gallery shows the MT5 Strategy Tester, although the overview calls the EA MetaTrader 4. This page follows the actual MT5 marketplace listing. The inconsistent description should not be treated as evidence that one file works in both platforms.

The strategy uses grid-based position management, fixed or automatic sizing, stop loss and take profit, with optional break-even and trailing. The release history adds moving-average filtering, a daily profit limit, trading hours, a spread filter, range-market filtering, a timer, additional entry filters and news filtering. These controls constrain behaviour; they do not remove the risk of correlated positions in a strong gold move.

What the public recovery preset actually enables

The developer’s 19 May 2026 recovery .set file specifies fixed lots of 0.05, AutoLot disabled, recovery and advanced recovery enabled, trailing enabled and a moving-average filter enabled. Break-even, the daily profit limit and time filtering are disabled in that historical preset. Recovery automatic sizing is also off, with a multiplier of 1.0.

These are observations about one dated test configuration, not instructions to apply it unchanged today. The file predates the August news filter and does not prove which later defaults are active. Parameter distances must be interpreted against the supplied build and broker symbol; an input value should not casually be translated into a universal dollar or pip risk.

The longer-period test

The first two gallery images show a curve labelled 2022–20 July 2026, with a $1,000 initial deposit and $33,995.56 simulated net profit. The report lists 99% history quality, 4,828 trades, a 3.06 profit factor and an 82.66% winning-trade rate.

Relative equity drawdown is 15.22%, while relative balance drawdown is 2.91%. The maximal-equity-drawdown line separately shows $552.26 (8.58%). These are different measures; selecting only the smaller percentage understates the largest relative equity decline shown. The full settings and independent reproduction are not provided by these cropped panels.

Older aggressive simulations need different context

Earlier gallery reports show approximately $15.09 million simulated profit from $2,000 and $12.15 million from $200 over a short January–April 2026 period. Their relative equity drawdowns are 42.77% and 39.53%, respectively. Red annotations highlight much smaller maximal-drawdown percentages in one image, but those do not replace the relative-drawdown figures. These extreme compounded outcomes are not credible expectations for a practical account without independently reproducing the assumptions and execution.

Monthly graphics are not a verified signal

Two further images show monthly percentages for 2025 and 2026, including months above 900% in 2025. They omit a linked account identity and complete account history. The 2026 image also skips April. Without that context, these images cannot establish continuous live performance or be joined to the tester reports as one verified record.

Customer discussion and subsequent updates

No product reviews were displayed at the dated check. Six comments include an April 2026 exchange in which Sven Markus Weller criticised signal direction and said the need for a configuration file had not been clear. The developer recommended an updated build and preset; the customer subsequently said they had corrected the default setup and were running it on a real-money account.

That is early configuration feedback, not proof that the current build retains the same issue or that the corrected setup is profitable long term. The later release history adds several filters, culminating in a news filter on 10 August. These changes should be tested, not assumed to validate the older backtests.
