Start with a demo account, confirm the broker’s XAUUSD symbol and point value, and check that a partial close leaves valid minimum volume. Broker stop-distance rules, spread spikes and slippage can change how protective settings work. Balance-based sizing increases exposure as the balance grows; it does not keep every trade’s cash risk constant.
