What is ThunderGold Scalper?
A XAUUSD (Gold) Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5, developed by Jorge Luiz Guimaraes De Araujo Dias for the M15 timeframe. It uses a multi-factor decision engine combining market structure, trend direction, candle quality, volume and momentum, and is designed to wait for qualified conditions rather than trade continuously. Is it a grid or martingale system?
Neither. The developer states there is no grid strategy, and every position opens with an automatic stop loss and take profit plus a dynamic trailing stop. Notably, he also warns users explicitly not to increase lot size after a losing trade — the opposite of what a martingale-based system would encourage. Recovery strategies and emotional intervention are called out as things that will increase your drawdown.
Why does it use such a short stop loss, and what does that mean for me?
Short stops keep individual losses small, but they are hit more often. The developer is upfront that several consecutive stop losses can occur during unfavourable conditions, and that this is a normal characteristic of the strategy rather than a technical fault. The practical implication: expect losing runs, do not interpret them as a malfunction, and above all do not increase your lot size trying to recover. More than usual. The developer states plainly that the EA is sensitive to spread, slippage, liquidity and execution speed, and that broker conditions can significantly affect results. A Raw Spread or Raw ECN account is strongly recommended, and TMGM, Vantage and VT Markets are named as tested.
