Golden Pickaxe uses mean-reversion grid trading on XAUUSD gold. Golden Pickaxe is for traders deliberately choosing gold-grid exposure and willing to test the preset and loss limits. The useful feature is control over that exposure; the main limitation is that strong one-way gold moves can overwhelm averaging baskets.

How the strategy works
The source lists XAU Risky as the default, so do not assume the out-of-the-box profile is the most conservative. Compare all five presets and inspect the averaging multipliers, maximum trades and spacing. Volatility, Donchian-channel and daily EMA controls influence when entries are allowed. Neural-network configuration can be selected or trained, but an internal probability score is not an independently measured probability of making money.
- XAUUSD mean-reversion strategy with machine-learning entry selection.
- Five preset choices, including Balanced Vol, Balanced, Classic and the Risky variants.
- Grid spacing, lot progression, volatility filtering and drawdown controls.

MT4 or MT5: choosing the edition
For a MetaTrader 4 account, check the broker’s gold symbol, contract specification and lot step before loading the M1 setup. Do not transfer risk solely by copying a lot number from another broker. The edition remains a gold grid: choosing a more restrained preset changes its behaviour but does not remove the possibility of a prolonged adverse trend.
The MT5 edition requires a hedging account so multiple positions can coexist as the strategy expects. Test the actual XAUUSD specification and intended preset in the MT5 terminal. An MT4 signal is background evidence about the strategy family, not a verified track record for this MT5 build or the account on which you will use it.
The platform choice does not create a different economic edge. Compare like-for-like symbols, settings, account rules and execution costs. Keep each edition’s testing and results separate.
Current public signal: what it shows
The currently linked Golden Pickaxe signal is an MT4 real account on ICEMarkets-Server. At the 15 September 2026 check it showed 216.13% cumulative growth and USD11,733.06 balance versus USD11,725.12 equity. MQL5 separately displayed 40.84% relative balance drawdown and 8.42% equity drawdown. We retain both figures rather than selecting the lower number as a general maximum-loss claim.

Monitoring for this signal started on 10 April 2026. The older history and the currently monitored portion must be distinguished, especially when balance and equity drawdown fields differ. The two older signal URLs still present in the source did not expose their original account pages during our check. This record cannot validate every preset, establish a universal drawdown ceiling, or prove MT5 execution.

What buyer reviews say
Feedback is mixed. The short positive review below names the Balanced Vol preset and reports low drawdown. Other reviewers criticise averaging risk and report losses. In a detailed reply, the developer acknowledges grid risk and argues that settings and risk management explain different outcomes. Those disputed account-level claims are not independently verified here; the documented grid and lot-progression controls are enough to make exposure a central buying consideration.

Read the original MQL5 review and surrounding feedback. Third-party ratings remain on MQL5; they are not imported as CheaperForex verified-purchase stars.
Backtests and older gallery evidence
The developer supplies the following test curve and report. They are useful for seeing the style of testing, but modelling, data quality, settings and execution assumptions can differ from a real account. They are kept distinct from the current signal captures above.

Guide and release history
The current histories include a March 2026 bug-fix release. Earlier updates introduced retrained network settings and a choice between older and newer perceptron configurations. The public PDF is dated 2022 and should not override newer listing inputs or release notes. Keep the intended preset with its matching configuration when comparing tests.

Before running it
Start with a demo test of the exact broker, account and preset. Review open exposure as well as closed balance. Define an affordable loss limit and verify which controls close existing trades versus only prevent new entries. A backtest, an AI label or a public account is not a guarantee that those limits will hold through gaps and slippage.
